Technical Specifications

The Picchio is a tabletop, pneumatic tubing expander. It enlarges the internal diameter of plastic tubings for medical device assembly when using solvents is not possible. The enlarged tubings are then fastened onto luers and barbs to create medical devices such as IV sets, extension lines, and related accessories.
The Picchio machines are compatible with PVC, EVA, polyurethane, silicone, and latex tubing and are suitable for clean rooms. Its compact nature makes it easy to use at any working station. It features conically-shaped jaws that can fit tubing of various diameters.
The Picchio is designed to boost production efficiency and to produce reliable, consistent results.

Enlarging Process

During production, the operator first inserts the tubing onto the closed, medical-grade jaws. Then, s/he uses a footswitch to activate the Pichhio and enlarge the tubing to the desired diameter. Finally, the operator can easily insert components such as luers and barbs into the resulting dilated tubing piece.
Depending on the tubing material, enlargement will last variably before the tubing returns to its original size.
